The Biomedical Research Center (Centro de Investigación Biomédica – CIB -) is an R&D initiative from the Government of Navarra’s Health Department, located in Pamplona (Spain). The Center is at the heart of the medical campus surrounded by two of the major regional hospitals within the public hospital network. The Center’s research areas include oncology, neurosciences and immunology.
CIB’s research will be aimed at becoming innovative and competitive at an international level and performed in close cooperation with other public biomedical research centers and private entities, offering a mix of academic and industrial environments to the researchers.
Responsibilities
The CIB is currently recruiting a Head of Department / Group Leader in the area of neurosciences, with a focus on translational research.
The successful candidate is expected to have or to develop and sustain an externally funded research program and there will be also substantial commitment to writing of scientific manuscripts describing the results of the studies.
The candidate will have on-site infrastructure and associated relevant skill base (genomics, proteomics, animal facilities…) to support the work and should direct a team of up to 10 pre and postdocs and 2 technicians, and guarantee the good operations of the laboratory.
The candidate will also develop key partnerships, internally and externally to enable the research plans of the group, where strong engagement with medical doctors in the local hospitals is expected.
Required Qualifications
The candidate should have a PhD, with no less than 10 years of combined national and international experience of which at least 2 years at a top tier research center, holding positions in neurosciences research.
The candidate is expected to have a significant track record of research achievements, supported by publications in high standing journals, leadership skills to direct a research program and excellent communication skills as demonstrated by lead authorship of published communications.
Ideally, the candidate should have a track record of grant support at national and/or international level, and international academic and/or industrial networks in relevant areas. Previous collaboration with clinicians is not required but is highly desirable.
Salary on appointment will be negotiable and dependent on qualifications and experience. Start date, as soon as possible.
