A good level of programming knowledge is highly desirable (e.g. in C++, IDL, Fortran, Python...). Good knowledge of Linux environment and usual scientific tools such as LaTeX will be also relevant.

Experiencia
The Astroparticle Physics group at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT) UAM-CSIC and the Department of Theoretical Physics at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) invites applications for one (predoctoral) research position in Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, with a focus on dark matter searches. In particular, the successful candidate with help us to elucidate the precise role of dark matter halo substructure in dark matter searches, and to search for it with current or planned gamma-ray telescopes.

The PhD project leader (Dr. Miguel A. Sánchez-Conde) is a member of the Fermi LAT Collaboration and of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) Consortium. The successful candidate is expected to join and develop most of his/her work within these collaborations. The IFT Astroparticle Physics group has also broad expertise in the analysis of N-body cosmological simulation data, and possesses an excellent record/network of collaborations with (local, national and international) experts in both Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology.

*** Contract details:
- Duration: 1 year, with clear possibility for extension up to 3 years.
- Salary: 1.377,62 ?/month, before taxes.
- Job status: full-time (37.5 hours/week).
- Earliest starting date: April 1st 2018.
- Includes Spanish Social Security and public healthcare.
