Regiones participantes:

NanoSci-E+ is a consortium of European national funding agencies which are cooperating more closely to coordinate activities and through this bolster EU-wide research while limiting the duplication of efforts. At present there are 17 organisations in the consortium from 13 countries. The project is coordinated by the CNRS (France).

ERA NET

Programa:

7th Framework Programme - NMP

Duración:

January 2008 - May 2012

Objetivo:

NanoSci-E+ is the direct outcome of the coordination work initiated within NanoSci-ERA and is based on the experience gained from the organisation in 2006 of a first transnational call for collaborative projects.

The objective of NanoSci-E+ is the launching, management and follow-up of a second call to which all the members able to mobilize funds participate.

Actividades:

The implementation of the call will follow modalities similar to those used for the first transnational call run by NanoSci-ERA.

Although advantage is being taken of off-the-shelf procedures developed by NanoSci-ERA, a whole body of preparatory work has also been achieved specifically for NanoSci-E+. It consists of:

  • The definition of a thematic orientation, based on a renewed approach.
  • A revised reviewing procedure in order to better handle a high number of submissions necessitating a broad range of expertise for their evaluation, hence a large panel of referees with different backgrounds.
  • Conclusive discussions on the funding scheme and the call budget.
  • The writing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering all aspects of the call in a detailed manner.

When details are not explicitly included in the MoU, general principles are set to provide a framework for future implementation decisions.

Convocatorias:

NanoSci-E+ Transnational Call for Collaborative Proposals (2008)

The present call is limited to ground-breaking research projects that address the issue of interfacing functional nano-objects or nano-materials.
It covers primarily the controlled formation of contacts and the study of coupling or communication/exchange mechanisms between nano-objects. The emphasis is on interfacing rather than on interfaces. Also included are studies dealing with the functional coupling between a nano-object and a larger object through an identified nano-specific gateway (e.g. between a nano-particle and a living cell through a protein of the membrane).
The characterization studies of nano-interfaces, and especially hard-soft interfaces (e.g. for spintronics or molecular electronics) are within the scope of the present call, as long as they represent enabling/critical steps towards nano-object interfacing.
Excluded are studies of interfaces not meant to achieve a functional mediation (e.g. between a nano-material and a biological tissue to achieve bio-compatibility) or nano-structured surfaces not acting as functional interfaces but rather used for their high-effective surface areas.
