Towards a new model of technology transfer of university research results
  It is urgent to actualise the universities’ role in the technological innovation process, and also as agents in the new knowledge based economy. The author analyses the dynamic process of transferring knowledge and technology from an knowledge creating environment (universities and research centres) to the industry (specially, to the small and medium sized enterprises).

Innovation Relay Centres: Managing Technology
  The Innovation Relay Centres (IRC)’ mission is to improve European innovation through specialized business services oriented towards the international transfer of new technologies. The first IRC were established in 1995 under the auspices of the European Commission . Nowadays, 68 IRC cover an area bigger than any other technology transfer network in the world. Their success –worldwide relevant- is based on the image, the close links with universities and firms, and the efficiency of the procedures and tools developed.

R&D and Innovation’ Deduction: fruitful but difficult
  The author thinks that R&D and Innovation’ fiscal deduction is a very generous policy instrument, but it requires a scientific and technical analysis for a proper implementation.

Reflections and suggestions around innovation encouragement
  The author criticizes traditional indicators of the national technology capability, taking into account the technological evolution of Spain. He offers his own view of technological management, considering the Government and firms’ role. He also analyses attitudes and facts in this field. This article is developed from a conference in the AITEMIN 25th anniversary Meeting.

The university professor production: composition, weights and quality corrections.
  Starting from a critique of certain assessment models of the university professors research capability, the author offers some interesting ideas on the main aspects of the university professors and centres work. It is also noticed the analysis of the growing importance of sponsored research, and the decline of the public financed research.

The ERA-NET scheme: supporting cooperation and regional research from the 6th Framework Programme.
  ERA-NET is a scheme included in the Specific Programme "Integrating and Strengthening the European Research Space" of the 6th Framework Programme. Its objective is to improve the cooperation and coordination of research activities at national and regional levels (in Member States and also Associate ones) through two tools: networking research activities and reciprocal opening of regional and national research programmes.
