This paper deals with the role of technologists and scientists as experts in consultancy processes. First of all, a review of the trends in the experts’ assessment is done. The analysis is focused on the methods of searching and selecting suitable expert. Then, some examples of these methods are offered as they are applied in the Innovation Circles created by the Research Directorate of the Madrid Regional Government.
