One of these is the development of an alert system (different from the spaces of knowledge creation, interchange, diffusion and application) to identify and gather data related to threats and opportunities.

Innovation Circles: Information Technologies as a cooperation tool between public and private organizations.

First of all, the article deals with the pros and cons of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) facing the new information sources. Then, the Innovation Circles (sponsored by the Madrid Regional Government) are presented. These circles try to facilitate the use of scientific information by SMEs managers in their decision processes. So, the circles show the common interest points for firms and scientists.

Those products and services are aimed towards the needs of the economic environment.
