Introduction to the technology marketplace
The technology marketplace is an on-line site to promote that Madrid based enterprises and research institutions identify potential partners from across Europe.
El Marketplace is a public site, free to use. This initiative is funded by Fundación madri+d. In this guide you can find information about the services the marketplace offers and the steps you need to follow to be an active member of this technology market.
What can I find in the marketplace?
You can find a database with hundreds of technology offers and demands, published by research institutions as well as multinational companies and SMEs seeking potential partners for their projects.
If your company or institution is based in Madrid region, you can also publish your own technology offer and, in that way, it will become visible to many other organizations across Europe.
In the technology marketplace you can also find information about innovation protection, related to Intellectual Property protection and commercialization agreements.
Who can take part?
The technology marketplace is a public site. Any research institution or company can use this tool to identify experts in a specific domain. If the institutions are based in the Madrid region, they can also publish their own offers and demands.
How can I find the experts in the technology areas of my interest?
In the technology Marketplace you can find 1000+ technology profiles, offers and demands, in the whole spectrum of technology areas.
If you are interested in getting in contact with other companies or institutions that develop technology on a certain topic, the marketplace offers you two ways of doing it:
- Search a technology: By using our search engine you can find the whole description of the published technology offers.
- Demand a technology: If you need to find an expert in a specific area, you can publish your own technology demand specifying all the requirements your partner should meet. Interested parties will contact you directly.
How can I publish my technology offers and demands?
Publishing your own offers and demands is easy, you need to use the tools “Publish your technology demand” and “Publish your technology offer” under the section “Technology”.
You need to fill in an on-line form where you find guidelines to describe your technology and the profile of the partners you are seeking. The most precise the description is, the biggest the interest it will create in the marketplace, and the most likely you will get response from the best experts.
A company or institution can publish as many offers and demands as they wish.
Your technology offers and demands will be checked by a team of experts in technology transfer in order to guarantee a high quality standard in the marketplace. How can I manage my technology offers and demands?

- Managing your offers and requests:
This services allows registered users to publish on-line their technology offers and demands. You just need to fill in an on-line form, taking into account the following aspects:
- Title: must be attractive.
- Abstract: must answer the following questions: who, where, what for, main advantages and type of partners sought. It can not be longer than 500 characters.
- Description: It must cover all the key aspects of the technology.
- Innovative aspects: It must explain the distinctive features in the offered technology versus existing technologies. -Technology Keywords: UNESCO codes.
- Stage of development: Current stage of development.
- Intellectual Property rights: Information related to the protection of the technology.
- Type of partner sought: type of collaboration, partner profile...
- Market keywords
- Optional: website, pictures, etc…
- Validation process:
Once you have completed the description of your technology, the form will be checked by an expert in innovation transfer. You will receive in your inbox a notification of whether your profile has been validated as it is or whether you need to do some suggested amendments before it gets validated.
Once the form is validated, it will be published in the marketplace and be visible to all the other users for a period of 1 year – with an option to renew it for one more year. The user can amend the profile in order to include updates, at any moment.
 How can I protect my technology?
The IP rights are a key section in this technology marketplace. The basis of the distinctive signs, such as trade marks, author rights, web domain registrations, patents, know-how and usability models, as instruments to carry out innovation and technology advancements. The marketplace aims to promote an adequate exploitation of the IP rights by their owners, whether they are companies or institutions.
In the section Innovation protection you can find detailed information about the IP rights, with links to very useful guides explaining basic aspects on the different rights. In the thematic section you can also find documents explaining key aspects of IP, such as strategy in the patents search, IP valuation, licensing, preparation of IP agreements, etc…
Creating technology catalogues
The technology marketplace will allow that users can generate their own technology catalogues. Every time users do a search for a certain technology area, they will be able to save it as a pdf file.
