Se encuentra a 384 400 km de distancia de la Tierra y tiene un di\u00e1metro de 3476 km. Tarda en dar una vuelta alrededor de la Tierra unos 27,32 d\u00edas. Debido a efectos de marea, el periodo de rotaci\u00f3n de su eje coincide con el de traslaci\u00f3n en torno a la Tierra, por lo que la Luna siempre presenta la misma cara al observador terrestre.
