La nube original comienza a colapsarse debido a alguna perturbaci\u00f3n exterior. En el colapso, la nube gana energ\u00eda y aumenta de densidad. Aunque al principio la energ\u00eda ganada se emite al espacio en forma de radiaci\u00f3n, llega un momento en que la densidad de la nube es ya tan grande que impide que la radiaci\u00f3n escape. La nube se calienta. Al continuar contray\u00e9ndose, siguen aumentando la densidad y la temperatura. Las mol\u00e9culas y el polvo se rompen en \u00e1tomos y \u00e9stos en sus part\u00edculas constituyentes.
