Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 ocurre con los aproximadamente 200 planetas descubiertos desde el a\u00f1o 1995 <strong>fuera<\/strong> de nuestro sistema planetario?<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">En la anterior asamble general de la IAU, celebrada en Australia en el 2003, se acepto una <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dtm.ciw.edu\/boss\/iauindex.html\" target=\"blank\"> definici\u00f3n provisional.<\/a> Seg\u00fan la misma, los planetas <strong>fuera<\/strong>del Sistema Solar deben cumplir:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Orbitar un estrella o remanente de estrella (enana blanca, estrella de neutrones) y tener una masa inferior a 13 masas de J\u00fapiter. Esto es, que no fusione deuterio, un is\u00f3topo de hidr\u00f3geno, ni cualquier otro elemento qu\u00edmico. Por tanto, no produce energ\u00eda a partir de este tipo de fuente.<\/li>\n<li>Objetos subestelares con masas superiores son <strong>enanas marrones <\/strong>(que no fusionan hidr\u00f3geno).<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Los objetos aislados de masa planetaria (<strong>IPMOs<\/strong> por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s, o <strong>planemos<\/strong>, o <strong>xebarcos<\/strong>, u <strong>oriones<\/strong>), con masa por debajo de este l\u00edmite son sub-enanas marrones (o cualquier otro nombre que sea apropiada, salvo planeta)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Por supuesto, estas condiciones est\u00e1n sujetas a modificaci\u00f3n seg\u00fan nuestro conocimiento avanza. Yo tengo la convicci\u00f3n que cambiar\u00e1 en la proxima reuni\u00f3n plenaria de la IAU.
