{"id":131251,"date":"2011-05-19T15:36:23","date_gmt":"2011-05-19T14:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madrimasd.org\/blogs\/bioinformatica\/?p=131251"},"modified":"2011-05-19T15:36:23","modified_gmt":"2011-05-19T14:36:23","slug":"servicio-ftp-de-kegg-%c2%bfde-pago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madrimasd.org\/blogs\/bioinformatica\/2011\/05\/19\/131251","title":{"rendered":"Servicio FTP de KEGG \u00bfde pago?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hace un par de d\u00edas nos han empezado a llegar a todos los que trabajamos en bioinform\u00e1tica correos conteniendo el siguiente p\u00e1rrafo:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Starting on July 1, 2011 the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.jp\/kegg\/\" target=\"_blank\">KEGG<\/a> FTP site for academic users will be transferred from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\">GenomeNet<\/a> at Kyoto University to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bioinformatics.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">NPO Bioinformatics Japan<\/a>, and it will be available only to <strong>paid subscribers<\/strong>. The publicly funded portion, the medicus directory, will continue to be freely accessible at GenomeNet. The KEGG FTP site for commercial customers managed by Pathway Solutions will remain unchanged. The new FTP site is available for free trial until the end of June.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Si adem\u00e1s de este p\u00e1rrafo os le\u00e9is todos los p\u00e1rrafos de la fuente original (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kegg.jp\/kegg\/docs\/plea.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.kegg.jp\/kegg\/docs\/plea.html<\/a>), ver\u00e9is que es la transferencia organizativa del sitio FTP, sin los fondos necesarios en la organizaci\u00f3n de destino, la que ha llevado a esta situaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Uno de los problemas de las bases de datos bioinform\u00e1ticas es encontrar una financiaci\u00f3n estable para poder seguir manteni\u00e9ndola actualizada y curada. Muchas bases de datos noveles desaparecen por esta raz\u00f3n, y algunas con solera, como le pasa a KEGG o le pas\u00f3 en su momento a <a href=\"http:\/\/bond.unleashedinformatics.com\/Action?\" target=\"_blank\">BIND<\/a>, tienen que pasar a ser de pago.
