font-family: Arial;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;\">Hace ya unos meses y con motivo del d\u00eda mundial de la tuberculosis que se celebr\u00f3 el pasado 24 de Marzo, mi amiga y compa\u00f1era de bit\u00e1cora en Madrimasd, Consuelo Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, dedicaba <A href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.madrimasd.org\/salud_publica\/archive\/2008\/03\/21\/87037.aspx\">una entrada en su blog Salud Publica y algo m\u00e1s<\/a> a esta enfermedad&nbsp; que, lejos de estar extinguida, todav\u00eda causa grandes problemas como se puede ver en los comentarios a dicha entrada.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;\">Entonces, Consuelo nos invitaba a Miguel Vicente, autor del blog <A href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.madrimasd.org\/microbiologia\/\">Esos Peque\u00f1os Bichitos<\/a>, y a m\u00ed a que contribuy\u00e9semos para tratar sobre el tema de la tuberculosis y la figura de Robert Koch, uno de los fundadores de la microbiolog\u00eda que descubri\u00f3 a<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; Una, dedicada a Robert Koch, titulada <A href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.madrimasd.org\/microbiologia\/archive\/2008\/04\/27\/90212.aspx\">Robert Koch: cient\u00edfico, viajero y enamorado<\/a>; y otra dedicada <A href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.madrimasd.org\/microbiologia\/archive\/2008\/04\/19\/89548.aspx\">a la complejidad de la cubierta de las micobacterias<\/a>. El Asa de Henle, utilizada para sembrar bacterias en las Placas de Petri debe su nombre a Jacob Henle, profesor de Anatom\u00eda en G\u00f6ttingen que acababa de publicar en 1840, que las enfermedades infecciosas eran causadas por organismos par\u00e1sitos vivos. Las propias Placas de Petri, anta\u00f1o de vidrio y hoy de pl\u00e1stico desechable,deben su nombre a un colega de Koch. Hizo experimentos en animales demostrando que el carbunco (\u00c1ntrax) se transmit\u00eda mediante inoculaci\u00f3n con muestras que conten\u00edan su bacilo que hab\u00eda sido descubierto anteriormente. Obtuvo cultivos puros del bacilo en donde vio la formaci\u00f3n de formas de resistencia o esporas y demostr\u00f3 que bacilos que nunca hab\u00edan estado en contacto con los animales eran virulentos. Koch superaba a Pasteur en la t\u00e9cnica de cultivo de bacterias en medios artificiales consiguiendo cultivos puros a partir de los cuales era posible avanzar en su estudio ti\u00f1endo, fijando y fotografiando a las bacterias. En su cap\u00edtulo segundo, titulado <i>Preocupaciones enervadoras del principiante<\/i>, subcap\u00edtulo b) <i>Creencia en el agotamiento de los temas cient\u00edficos<\/i>, Cajal habla de nuestro error en la apreciaci\u00f3n de lo importante y lo accesorio. <i style=\"\">En <st1:personname productid=\"la Naturaleza\" w:st=\"on\">la Naturaleza<\/st1:personname><\/i>, dice, <i style=\"\">no hay superior ni inferior, ni cosas accesorias ni principales<\/i>.
