For instance, the fact that the species included in the larger genera are more closely related to each other, and present a greater number of varieties than do the species in the smaller genera. The former are also grouped in little clusters, like varieties round species; and they present other analogies with varieties, as was shown in our second chapter. On this same principle we can understand how it is that specific characters are more variable than generic characters; and how the parts which are developed in an extraordinary degree or manner are more variable than other parts of the same species. Many analogous facts, all pointing in the same direction, could be added.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Muchos grupos grandes de hechos son comprensibles s\u00f3lo seg\u00fan el principio de que las especies se han desarrollado a pasos peque\u00f1\u00edsimos; por ejemplo, el hecho de que las especies comprendidas en los g\u00e9neros mayores est\u00e9n m\u00e1s relacionadas entre s\u00ed y presenten un mayor n\u00famero de variedades que las especies de los g\u00e9neros menores. Las primeras est\u00e1n, adem\u00e1s, reunidas en peque\u00f1os grupos, como las variedades alrededor de la especie, y presentan otras analog\u00edas con las variedades, como se explic\u00f3 en el capitulo segundo. Seg\u00fan este mismo principio, podemos comprender por qu\u00e9 es que los caracteres espec\u00edficos son m\u00e1s variables que los gen\u00e9ricos, y por qu\u00e9 las partes que est\u00e1n desarrolladas en grado o modo extraordinarios son m\u00e1s variables que otras partes de la misma especie.
