For instance, I think those authors are right who maintain that the ass has a prepotent power over the horse, so that both the mule and the hinny resemble more closely the ass than the horse; but that the prepotency runs more strongly in the male than in the female ass, so that the mule, which is an offspring of the male ass and mare, is more like an ass than is the hinny, which is the offspring of the female-ass and stallion.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Estas diferentes observaciones parecen aplicables a los animales; pero el asunto, en este caso, es muy,complicado, debido, en parte, a la existencia de caracteres sexuales secundarios, pero m\u00e1s especialmente a que el predominio en transmitir la semejanza es m\u00e1s en\u00e9rgico pasando por un sexo que por el otro, tanto cuando una especie se cruza con otra especie como cuando una variedad se cruza con otra variedad.
