{"id":136,"date":"2012-02-03T10:36:41","date_gmt":"2012-02-03T09:36:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madrimasd.org\/blogs\/cursonanotecnologia\/?p=136"},"modified":"2012-02-03T10:36:41","modified_gmt":"2012-02-03T09:36:41","slug":"nanotechnology-applications-to-the-energy-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madrimasd.org\/blogs\/cursonanotecnologia\/2012\/02\/03\/136\/","title":{"rendered":"NANOTECHNOLOGY: APPLICATIONS TO THE ENERGY SECTOR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Durante el segundo semestre del presente curso acad\u00e9mico 2011-2012, en el ETSI-ICAI de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid se impartir\u00e1 la Asignatura de Libre Elecci\u00f3n \u00abNanotechnology: Applications to the Energy Sector\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n se detalla el programa anal\u00edtico de la asignatura y el sistema de evaluaci\u00f3n de la misma:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Subject Matter<\/strong>: NANOTECHNOLOGY: APPLICATIONS TO THE ENERGY SECTOR<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEARNING OUTCOMES <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To know why the nanostructures are important from the standpoint of science and technology.<\/li>\n<li>To be able to differentiate nanostructures according to their dimensions and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Explain qualitatively the nanostructures manufacturing and characterization methods.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the current state of the global energy sector from the point of view of transformation, production, consumption and environmental effects.<\/li>\n<li>Identify the Spanish situation regarding the energy sector.<\/li>\n<li>Establish relevant effects of nanotechnology in the energy sector worldwide and particularly in Spain: research, development and business situations.<\/li>\n<li>Explain the characteristics of nanotechnology applications for the conversion and production processes, storage and energy savings.<\/li>\n<li>Determine the evolution of nanotechnology applications in optoelectronics and the design and manufacture of new light sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>COURSE ASSESSMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Project report<\/li>\n<li>Oral presentation of the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One of the projects offered will be chosen by a student group (2-3 students) and the evaluation will consist in submit the project report and an oral presentation of the project if the semester schedule allows. The project report will stretch 10 to 15 pages including figures, tables, and references. The report must be submitted to the teacher before the oral presentation.
