Los robots son otra fascinante rama de la IA. Aunque la palabra robot pueda ser para la RAE sinónimo de autómata, un robot nos causa más inquietud que un autómata pues lo consideramos capaz de acciones propias. La palabra robot fue usada por el escritor checo Karel Čapek en su obra teatral R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots), publicada en 1920.
