Jos\u00e9 Barinaga naci\u00f3 en Valladolid el 2 de mayo de 1890, aunque sus estudios de Primaria y Secundaria los realiz\u00f3 en Salamanca, donde su padre era fiscal en la Audiencia Provincial. Curs\u00f3 el Bachillerato en el Instituto Fray Luis de Le\u00f3n, estudios que termin\u00f3 en 1906.
