Curs\u00f3 estudios en Oslo, y al terminar su bachillerato, asisti\u00f3 al Instituto Noruego de Tecnolog\u00eda (NTH) de Trondheim, donde se gradu\u00f3 como ingeniero qu\u00edmico en 1925.
