Los destinatarios de este premio son matem\u00e1ticos de pa\u00edses en v\u00edas de desarrollo. En 1912 envi\u00f3 por carta sus resultados a Godfrey H. Hardy, de Cambridge, qui\u00e9n examin\u00f3 en colaboraci\u00f3n con John E. Littlewood la lista de f\u00f3rmulas y teoremas de Ramanujan. Hardy invit\u00f3 a Ramanujan a Inglaterra en 1914 donde comenzaron a trabajar juntos. En 1920, a la edad de 32 a\u00f1os,<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>Ramanujan fallec\u00eda legando un trabajo que todav\u00eda hoy en d\u00eda contin\u00faa asombrando a los matem\u00e1ticos. El Premio Ramanujan une a dos genios matem\u00e1ticos que nos dejaron prematuramente, pues <a href=\"http:\/\/www-history.mcs.st-and.ac.uk\/Mathematicians\/Abel.html\">Abel<\/a> falleci\u00f3 a los 27 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blogs\/matematicas\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/69\/files\/1642\/o_Ramanujan.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blogs\/matematicas\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/69\/files\/1642\/o_Niels_henrik_Abel.jpg\" width=\"248\" height=\"322\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">El premio consiste en un cheque de 15.000 d\u00f3lares y financiaci\u00f3n para visitar el ICTP e impartir una conferencia. Se suele conceder a una sola persona, pero podr\u00eda ser compartido por varias personas que hayan contribuido a este trabajo en particular por el que se concede el premio. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">La selecci\u00f3n del premiado la hace un Comit\u00e9 formado por cinco prestigiosos matem\u00e1ticos elegidos en colaboraci\u00f3n con la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mathunion.org\"><b style=\"\">International Mathematical Union<\/b><\/a> (IMU). <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Premio se entrega por los Reyes de Noruega en una ceremonia en la Academia Noruega de las Ciencias y las Letras, con sede en Oslo, al mismo tiempo que el Premio Abel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b style=\"\">El ICTP<o:p><\/o:p><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">El ICTP fue fundado 1964 por Abdus Salam (Premio Nobel), y funciona con un acuerdo entre el Gobierno de Italia y dos agencias de las Naciones Unidas, UNESCO e IAEA. Su sede es la ciudad de Triestre. La misi\u00f3n de este centro es fomentar la investigaci\u00f3n en pa\u00edses en v\u00edas de desarrollo, en el \u00e1rea de Ciencias F\u00edsicas y sus aplicaciones. El ICTP acoge a unos 5000 cient\u00edficos anualmente (unos 100.000 desde su creaci\u00f3n, la mitad e pa\u00edses en v\u00edas de desarrollo, provinientes de 170 pa\u00edses). Es por tanto un excelente lugar de interacci\u00f3n, Otra pieza importante es la excelente biblioteca con m\u00e1s de 66.000 libros, 439 suscripciones y acceso electr\u00f3nico a 3.600 revistas.<strong><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;\"> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">El actual director es el Profesor Katepalli R.
