wholesome returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Este texto de Mark Twain describe de manera magistral el como se desprecia a la ciencia sin pararse a pensar un par de segundos. Twain dec\u00eda en ese p\u00e1rrafo que de un peque\u00f1o hecho la ciencia deriva grandes conjeturas. Pero esto, que es lo que hacen algunos pol\u00edticos, es absolutamente deleznable. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00bfQue dir\u00eda alguien si al verle beberse una ca\u00f1a de cerveza se comentase \u201cMira al borracho ese\u201d?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Est\u00e1 claro que los r\u00edos cambian, y que los deltas pueden crecer  <\/span>o disminuir. Pero cuando el delta del Mississippi dej\u00f3 de reducirse el r\u00edo dej\u00f3 de variar su longitud. Las conclusiones de Twain son tan mala ciencia como la deducci\u00f3n de que alguien es un borracho porque se le ve beberse una ca\u00f1a. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

De la misma manera, si un pol\u00edtico elige un resultado aislado de un experimento, puede denigrar la ciencia porque esta ha deducido algo evidentemente falso. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
