La demanda de agua es b\u00e1sicamente para el consumo humano, la agricultura, las actividades recreativas y los entornos naturales. Por ello,<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">la gesti\u00f3n del agua es un tema considerado estrat\u00e9gico a nivel mundial. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Las soluciones a los problemas vinculados al agua se deben abordar con una perspectiva multidisciplinar. La nanotecnolog\u00eda re\u00fane conocimientos cient\u00edfico-t\u00e9cnicosprovenientes de diferentes disciplinas tradicionales con el fin de conocer, operar<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">y controlar la materia a escala at\u00f3mica y molecular, y poder as\u00ed obtener materiales con propiedades mejoradas o nuevas. En este contexto, la nanotecnolog\u00eda parece una alternativa viable en el campo de las tecnolog\u00edas del agua.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">Georgiana Amariei y Karina Boltes, Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica, UAH.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">La fascinaci\u00f3n que provoca el poder operar a escala manom\u00e9trica y controlar las propiedades de los materiales, hace que la nanotecnolog\u00eda, adem\u00e1s de ser una l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n de gran futuro, empiece a proporcionar aplicaciones comerciales en el sector del agua.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">La Universidad de California y la compa\u00f1\u00eda NanoH<\/span><sub><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2<\/span><\/sub><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">O, (Los \u00c1ngeles, CA, EE.UU.) desarrollaron e introdujeron la membrana<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"> QuantumFlux <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">en el mercado de la \u00f3smosis inversa. Esta membrana se gener\u00f3 mediante la incrustaci\u00f3n de nanopart\u00edculas hidr\u00f3filas en una pel\u00edcula fina de poliamida para formar una membrana nanocomposita con mayor eficiencia de permeabilidad y menor potencial de ensuciamiento. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">Estas nanopart\u00edculas son altamente porosas, absorben agua como una esponja, mientras que repelen las sales disueltas y otras impurezas. Por otro lado, repelen los compuestos org\u00e1nicos y bacterias causantes del bioensuciamiento, que tienden a obstruir las membranas convencionales despu\u00e9s de cierto tiempo de uso. Ya disponible en el mercado, esta membrana de altas prestaciones permite desalinizar con menores costos energ\u00e9ticos que la \u00f3smosis inversa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;
