En uno de los \u00faltimos estudios el n\u00famero de muertes relacionadas con la infecci\u00f3n nosocomial ha sido de 20.000\/a\u00f1o.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;;\" lang=\"ES\">En la d\u00e9cada de los setenta, se comprob\u00f3 que era posible conseguir una reducci\u00f3n del 32% de las infecciones nosocomiales en los hospitales de EEUU en los que se hab\u00eda implantado un programa de control de infecci\u00f3n.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">En los \u00faltimos tiempos el problema de las infecciones nosocomiales se ha visto aumentado debido a los nuevos avances en la medicina: <B><SPAN style=\"COLOR: blue\">mayor porcentaje de pacientes inmunodeprimidos, mayor frecuencia de manipulaciones y procedimientos agresivos, aumento del consumo de antimicrobianos de amplio espectro con la aparici\u00f3n de bacterias multirresistentes y detecci\u00f3n frecuente de brotes epid\u00e9micos.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Estos datos impulsan a la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) a recomendar que se instauren <SPAN style=\"COLOR: blue\">Programas de control de infecci\u00f3n nosocomial <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">en los hospitales de todo el mundo.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">A su vez, en los hospitales se han creado Servicios de Enfermedades Infecciosas, que trabajan en colaboraci\u00f3n con los Servicios de Medicina Interna y de Microbiolog\u00eda Cl\u00ednica; los Servicios de Microbiolog\u00eda han experimentado una revoluci\u00f3n en las t\u00e9cnicas que utilizan en la detecci\u00f3n y tratamiento de los microorganismos multirresistentes y en el control de la infecci\u00f3n hospitalaria, muchos Servicios de Medicina Intensiva han promovido sistemas de vigilancia de la infecci\u00f3n nosocomial, y se ha implantado el trabajo de Enfermer\u00eda especializada en el Control de la Infecci\u00f3n.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Con todos estos elementos todos los hospitales pueden crear una Comisi\u00f3n de Infecciones nosocomiales y un Equipo de Control de las Infecci\u00f3n nosocomial que se dediquen, exclusivamente a ello.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">En este y sucesivos post vamos a desarrollar, paso a paso, como se puede crear un Programa de Control de Infecciones Nosocomiales.<\/SPAN><\/B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"> <o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Para ello nos hemos apoyado en el <B><A href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/csr\/resources\/publications\/drugresist\/PISpanish3.pdf\">protocolo de la OMS, en su cap\u00edtulo Programas de Control de infecciones<\/A>,<\/B> y en el documento de consenso sobre recomendaciones y recursos necesarios para un programa de control de la infecci\u00f3n nosocomial en los hospitales espa\u00f1oles, publicado en<SPAN>&nbsp; <\/SPAN>Junio de 1999, preparado por:<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <UL style=\"MARGIN-TOP: 0in\" type=square> <LI class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: red; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: red; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Comisi\u00f3n de infecciones (CI)<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Ser\u00e1 el <SPAN style=\"COLOR: blue\">organismo m\u00e1ximo responsable del programa de control de la infecci\u00f3n en el hospital. <o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Sus competencias incluyen todo lo que tiene que ver con la prevenci\u00f3n y control de las infecciones que pueden transmitirse en el hospital a los pacientes, al personal que trabaja en el hospital y a los visitantes del mismo<\/SPAN><\/B><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">El <B>responsable de <\/B><\/SPAN><x:namespace prefix = st1 \/><st1:personname productid=\"la Comisi?n\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">.<\/SPAN><\/B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"> <o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">La participaci\u00f3n de la enfermer\u00eda en el ECIH es b\u00e1sica e indispensable, en una proporci\u00f3n m\u00ednima de 1 enfermera\/o con dedicaci\u00f3n exclusiva por cada 250 camas<\/SPAN><\/B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"> de hospitalizaci\u00f3n. <B><SPAN style=\"COLOR: blue\">El personal de Enfermer\u00eda deber\u00eda tener una formaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica en esta materia. <\/SPAN><\/B><o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Es recomendable que <B><SPAN style=\"COLOR: blue\">el Servicio de Medicina Intensiva nombre un responsable del control de la infecci\u00f3n hospitalaria, debido a la frecuencia de las mismas en estas unidades<\/SPAN><\/B>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"><SPAN>&nbsp;<\/SPAN>El ECIH debe colaborar activamente con los Servicios Cl\u00ednicos del Hospital, plantas de hospitalizaci\u00f3n, Quir\u00f3fanos, Servicio de Farmacia,<SPAN>&nbsp; <\/SPAN>Servicios Generales, Admisi\u00f3n de Enfermos y el Comit\u00e9 de Direcci\u00f3n. <o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Uno de los aspectos fundamentales del trabajo del ECIH es el desarrollo de los diversos sistemas de vigilancia establecidos desde la CI.<\/SPAN><\/B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"> <o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Es muy importante que el personal de enfermer\u00eda establezca un feed-back con el personal implicado en los diversos tipos de IH, que deben recibir puntualmente la informaci\u00f3n correspondiente de los estudios de vigilancia. Este registro de datos de vigilancia debe seguirse inmediatamente de la aplicaci\u00f3n de las medidas oportunas de prevenci\u00f3n y control. La enfermer\u00eda de control de infecci\u00f3n ha de velar por su cumplimiento y llevar a cabo una formaci\u00f3n continuada del personal sanitario en el quehacer diario y sobre el propio terreno. Adem\u00e1s de esta formaci\u00f3n continuada en la rutina diaria, el ECIH debe promover sesiones peri\u00f3dicas de formaci\u00f3n para el personal, con especial \u00e9nfasis en los aspectos de novedad o cambio y tambi\u00e9n en aquellos grupos de personal reci\u00e9n incorporados a una determinada \u00e1rea de hospitalizaci\u00f3n.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 11pt;
