Las infecciones contra\u00eddas por el personal o por visitantes al hospital o a otro establecimiento de esa \u00edndole tambi\u00e9n pueden considerarse infecciones nosocomiales.<o:p><\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">Las bacterias causantes provienen de la flora intestinal, ya sea normal <SPAN>&nbsp;<\/SPAN>como <I>Escherichia coli, <\/I><SPAN>&nbsp;<\/SPAN>o contra\u00edda en el hospital: <I>Klebsiella polifarmacorresistente<\/I>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">: la incidencia var\u00eda de 0,5 a 15% seg\u00fan el tipo de operaci\u00f3n y el estado del paciente. Representan un problema grave que limita los beneficios potenciales de las intervenciones quir\u00fargicas. Tienen una gran repercusi\u00f3n en los costos de hospitalizaci\u00f3n y en la duraci\u00f3n de la estad\u00eda postoperatoria (entre 3 y 20 d\u00edas m\u00e1s).<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">La definici\u00f3n es principalmente cl\u00ednica:<\/SPAN><\/B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\"> <SPAN style=\"COLOR: blue\">secreci\u00f3n purulenta alrededor de la herida o del sitio de inserci\u00f3n del tubo de drenaje o celulitis difusa de la herida<\/SPAN>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><B><SPAN lang=ES style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'\">La infecci\u00f3n suele contraerse durante la propia operaci\u00f3n, ya sea en forma <o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P> <UL style=\"MARGIN-TOP: 0in\" type=square> <LI class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt;
