Sinceramente, la especie humana es un tanto pat\u00e9tica. Mientras<\/SPAN><\/B> por un lado estamos degradando irreversiblemente la biosfera, <\/SPAN><\/B>por otro nos afanamos en visitar los lugares paradis\u00edacos que pronto se extinguir\u00e1n<\/SPAN><\/B>. Y as\u00ed ha nacido el Boom<\/SPAN><\/B> que los anglosajones han comenzado a denominar \u201cEl Turismo de la Fatalidad\u201d (\u201cTourism Doom<\/I>\u201d)<\/SPAN><\/B>. Viajamos a ver ecosistemas en v\u00edas de desaparici\u00f3n, ya sea por deforestaci\u00f3n, cambio clim\u00e1tico u otros tipos de degradaci\u00f3n ambiental. Y tal h\u00e1bito, al alza, est\u00e1 generando pingues beneficios a los operadores tur\u00edsticos<\/SPAN><\/B>. <\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Recuerdo un d\u00eda, visitando los parques naturales<\/span><\/b> de una determinada Comunidad Aut\u00f3noma, como mientras en la entrada un guarda forestal anotaba las matr\u00edculas de los veh\u00edculos que aflu\u00edan, en su interior se constru\u00edan hoteles y urbanizaciones a toda velocidad<\/span><\/b>. As\u00ed pues, no se trataba de \u201cproteger\u201d aquellas maravillas, sino de sacarle el m\u00e1ximo provecho econ\u00f3mico de la manera m\u00e1s c\u00ednica posible. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

La noticia que ofrecemos hoy de Terradaily nos habla de ello<\/span><\/b>. Se trata de un fen\u00f3meno mundial<\/span><\/b>. Los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n ofrecen las noticias del desastre y nos vamos todos corriendo de vacaciones para all\u00ed. Al regresar contaremos ufanos nuestras haza\u00f1as, empero la mayor\u00eda no moveremos un dedo para intentar evitar, quiz\u00e1s, lo inevitable. Y al a\u00f1o siguiente, m\u00e1s de lo mismo. <\/span>E<\/span>so s\u00ed, si hay mucha pobreza, epidemias, etc., entonces\u2026.. ya es otra cosa \u00bfverdad?. Luego seguimos con nuestro desarrollo insustentable tan tranquilos<\/span><\/b>. No me voy a extender mucho, ya que todos sab\u00e9is el reclamo de los glaciares que se funden<\/span><\/b> (y all\u00ed vamos), de las selvas que se talan<\/span><\/b> (y all\u00ed vamos), de las posibles islas paradis\u00edacas que pueden quedar sumergidas<\/span><\/b> (y all\u00ed vamos), et., etc. Algunos incluso pueden tener la \u201cesperanza\u201d de que, en un futuro no muy lejano, puedan exclamar orgullosos a sus amistades: \u00a1Yo fui uno de los \u00faltimos en ver esto o aquello!<\/span><\/b>.  <\/span>La noticia versa sobre este tema y todos somos responsables<\/span><\/b>. Y como dice este escrito, aun a pesar de la crisis econ\u00f3mica<\/span><\/b>. Reflexionemos un poco y seamos conscientes de nuestra conducta colectiva. Si tanto nos apasionan, \u00bfporqu\u00e9 los movimientos para preservar lo que aun podemos a penas alcanzan a unos pocos colectivos de ecologistas y no de todos los turistas? Recordemos tambi\u00e9n que las altas concentraciones de excursionistas en sitios vulnerables provocan un a\u00f1adido impacto ambiental<\/span><\/b> nada despreciable. This logic is partly responsible for a rise in the number of foreign visitors to Africa Albida’s safari lodges in <\/span>Zimbabwe<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, where the firm operates properties near <\/span>Victoria Falls<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/st1:place>, the largest waterfall in the world<\/span><\/b>. The site is well suited as a starting point for safaris along the <\/span>Zambezi<\/span><\/st1:placename> <\/span>River<\/span><\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> on <\/span>Zimbabwe<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>‘s northern border to see endangered wildlife.  <\/span>Despite concerns over political unrest, staggering inflation, shortages and a cholera outbreak in <\/span><\/b><\/span>Zimbabwe<\/span><\/b><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, the company posted a four percent rise in visitors in 2008,<\/span><\/b> Kennedy said. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The popularity of visits to the melting glaciers in the Antarctic has also soared so much that cruises must now be reserved well in advance, Shapiro said. According to the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators, slightly more than 46,000 tourists visited the continent during the 2007-08 tourist season — more than double the number five seasons ago<\/span><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
