Calor y viento suman sus fuerzas, induciendo incendios forestales de consecuencias devastadoras. Sin embargo, varios factores de origen humano se encuentran propiciando que los da\u00f1os sean mayores. Por un lado nos encontramos ante la ausencia de pol\u00edticas forestales sustentables adaptadas a ambientes concretos. As\u00ed, por ejemplo, la sustituci\u00f3n de bosques espont\u00e1neos por monocultivos arb\u00f3reos basados en especies de crecimiento r\u00e1pido (a manudo con con\u00edferas pirof\u00edticas -o amantes del fuego) deviene en una gesti\u00f3n forestal insustentable, por mucho que interese a las compa\u00f1\u00edas madereras. La ausencia, o falta de limpieza, de los cortafuegos favorece la propagaci\u00f3n de los incendios al incrementar una biomasa y necromasa altamente inflamable. La pr\u00e1ctica total ausencia de dise\u00f1os paisaj\u00edsticos adecuados resulta ser otro factor altamente negativo. Del mismo modo, el despoblamiento de los territorios escasamente productivos tiene como resultado que los campesinos abandonaran la extracci\u00f3n de le\u00f1a para el mantenimiento de sus hogares (comida, calefacci\u00f3n, etc.), pr\u00e1ctica que anta\u00f1o resultaba sumamente \u00fatil para despejar el bosque de material inflamable. La pol\u00edtica agraria com\u00fan de los a\u00f1os (PAC) 90 del siglo pasado propici\u00f3 una retirada de tierras para el cultivo, cuyas consecuencias consistieron en un incremento de la superficie cubierta por matorral, parte del cual es altamente inflamable. De no ser as\u00ed, pierde gran biodiversidad, acarreando consecuencias indeseables<\/span><\/b>. Tal argumento resulta ser falaz desde todo punto de vista. Cuando en alguno de los a\u00f1os sucesivos, inevitablemente arden grandes extensiones, sus desverg\u00fcenzas salen a la luz. No necesitamos apelar al calentamiento clim\u00e1tico para justificar lo injustificable. \u201cSe trata de echar balones fuera\u201d, es decir acusar al demonio de la propia incompetencia. Y mientras tanto, las urbanizaciones proliferan junto o dentro de numerosas masas boscosas, aumentando el riesgo de vidas humanas e infraestructuras materiales. Si tenemos a los \u201c\u00e1rboletes pegaditos\u201d a nuestras viviendas mejor. \u00bfMejor para que?. Eliminar los micro-h\u00e1bitats que generan una cantidad de maleza adecuada, as\u00ed como los propios \u00e1rboles muertos, es una atentado contra la naturaleza la biodiversidad del bosque. Del mismo modo, permitir que proliferen en exceso, deviene en temeridad<\/span><\/b> (amplificaci\u00f3n del riesgo). La cuesti\u00f3n estriba en que gran parte de los bosques de Europa son una caricatura de lo que debieran ser. <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Los desprop\u00f3sitos se han ido acumulando uno tras otro<\/span><\/b>. Como resultado de todo ello, <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">una sola medida preventiva, o varias paliativas <\/span><\/b>(m\u00e1s recursos para sofocar las llamas) <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">no solucionan nada.<\/span><\/b> Si al <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">calor<\/span><\/b> se suma el<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> viento<\/span><\/b> el <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">desastre<\/span><\/b> se encuentra <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">garantizado<\/span><\/b>. <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Dos a\u00f1os de tranquilidad<\/span><\/b> (condiciones que no favorezcan la proliferaci\u00f3n de los incendios) <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">debieran preocupar tanto como su ausencia<\/span><\/b>. En tales condiciones, la <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">biomasa y necromasa se acumulan,<\/span><\/b> por lo que cuando vuelve a surgir el<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> fuego <\/span><\/b>lo hace con<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> m\u00e1s intensidad y afectando a mayores extensiones<\/span><\/b>. Hoy por hoy, reiteramos que la mayor parte de las masas forestales, en su parte parte no son verdaderos bosques (con sus microclimas nemorales), sino parches o manchas de matorrales arbolados inmersos en una matriz de otros usos del suelo.<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> Cualquier medida debe venir acompa\u00f1ada de un adecuado dise\u00f1o paisaj\u00edstico que afecte a todos los elementos que conforman un territorio concreto<\/span><\/b>.<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> De no ser as\u00ed, los incendios proliferar\u00e1n m\u00e1s y m\u00e1s, con independencia del calentamiento clim\u00e1tico<\/span><\/b>. No reconocerlo ser\u00eda un error supino. Y lamentablemente no se detectan s\u00edntomas de que nuestros pol\u00edticos cambien de actitud, sino todo lo contrario. En EE.UU., lo saben de sobra actuando<\/span><\/b> \u201cgeneralmente\u201d<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> en consecuencia<\/span><\/b>, como lo fue en el caso de un<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> grave incendio que afect\u00f3 al parque de <\/span><\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Parque_Nacional_Yellowstone\">Yelowstone<\/a> no hace muchos a\u00f1os. <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Mientras aqu\u00ed la prensa se quedaba pasmada, los gestores<\/span><\/b> de aqu\u00e9l espacio preservado (en el que s\u00f3lo se pueden visitar zonas muy concretas por los turistas) <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">permitieron que ardieran miles de hect\u00e1reas alegando que el fuego forma parte de su ciclo natural. Hicieron lo correcto<\/span><\/b>, aunque en este pa\u00eds de mentes obtusas, tal medida no entrara en las cabezas de chorlito de muchos que \u201cdicen\u201d saber de ecolog\u00eda y defender el medio ambiente. Otra cuesti\u00f3n bien distinta deviene que actualmente nos preocupen todas las emisiones de carbono a la atm\u00f3sfera. Sin embargo, <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">el fuego, con periodicidades o ciclos de retorno diferentes, son una parte consustancial de la estructura y din\u00e1mica de los ecosistemas forestales y las sabanas. Lo que no podemos pretender es intentar <span style=\"\"><\/span>suprimir estas con vistas a paliar las de origen humano<\/span><\/b>. El paso de los bosques mixtos naturales a las plantaciones de especie \u00fanica, junto con pr\u00e1cticas intensivas como aclareos en gran escala, retirada rigurosa de \u00e1rboles muertos y recolecci\u00f3n antes de la madurez, han tenido efectos negativos para la biodiversidad forestal<\/span><\/b>.
