Resultan instrumentos interesantes que deben ser entendidos como la versi\u00f3n moderna de los mapas tradicionales de suelos. La racaner\u00eda de gobiernos e instituciones, con vistas a mejorar los inventarios actuales, deviene en que se necesiten herramientas matem\u00e1ticas para sacar petr\u00f3leo de cualquier fuente de informaci\u00f3n. Nadie duda de tal desafortunada necesidad. Ahora bien, que los expertos que se dedican al tema se crean los \u201creyes del mambo\u201d y menosprecien a los cart\u00f3grafos tradicionales es otro asunto bien distinto. Poco a poco, se ha ido mostrando que la intensidad de muestreo de los productos tradiciones resulta escasa con vistas a dar cuenta de la gran diversidad espacial de los tipos de suelos, as\u00ed como de la variabilidad espacial de las numerosas propiedades ed\u00e1ficas. El problema estriba en que las salidas de los nuevos Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n dependen de la idoneidad y abundancia de los datos disponibles, pudiendo hacerse muy poco cuando estos no son escasos y obsoletos, por mucho que estos edafometras clamen lo contrario. Hacer virtud de las carencias que impiden que otros puedan realizar su labor con rigor no parece procedente, y menos aun cuando se llave a cabo con arrogancia y altaner\u00eda, como es el caso. Sin embargo, las estimaciones que figuran en el mapa de suelos suelen basarse en un conocimiento e informaci\u00f3n limitados. De pues reconocerse que las cartograf\u00edas de suelos no se encuentran exentas de errores. Tal incertidumbre en las estimaciones puede ser representada mediante distribuciones de probabilidad. La monograf\u00eda hace uso de procedimientos geoestad\u00edsticos con vistas<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>a obtener mapas de tipos de suelos y de propiedades concretas de los mismos a partir de observaciones previas (calicatas, sondeos, etc.) y la informaci\u00f3n explicativa de los documentos de donde proceden. Una de las caracter\u00edsticas principales de estos m\u00e9todos, deviene de que estos no s\u00f3lo producen un mapa, sino que tambi\u00e9n cuantificar la incertidumbre asociadas a los mismos. Adem\u00e1s, en lugar de almacenar los mapas, estos devienen en Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n del Suelos, que conservan tambi\u00e9n los modelos geoestad\u00edsticos aludidos, as\u00ed como los datos sobre los que se realizan las operaciones aludidas con anterioridad, de modo que puede realizarse una cartograf\u00eda actualizada en base a la introducci\u00f3n de nueva informaci\u00f3n, cuando esta se encuentra disponible.
