Lo que es menos conocido, a excepci\u00f3n de los estudiosos en el tema, estriba en que muchas de las propiedades fisiogr\u00e1ficas, biogeograf\u00edas, edafogeogr\u00e1ficas, etc. de los sistemas insulares dependen de las fuerzas geosf\u00e9ricas que dieron lugar a su g\u00e9nesis. En el presente post os explicamos brevemente los tipos de sistemas insulares que un tal Nunn propuso en 1994, con alguna adenda de mi propia cosecha (<span style=\"\">Nunn, P.D.<\/span> 1994. Las primeras<\/span><\/b> dan cuenta de los sistemas insulares que, m\u00e1s o menos cercanos, forman parte del mismo de la litosfera continental, estando separados de ellos por un cuerpo de agua, eventualmente o no. Se trata de <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">monta\u00f1as de las plataformas continentales, constituidas por los mismos materiales litol\u00f3gicos<\/span><\/b>, y que a menudo vuelven a conectarse con aquellos cuando baja el nivel del mar a causa de las glaciaciones. Ejemplos ser\u00edan las Islas Brit\u00e1nicas y las Baleares. En otros casos existe cierta actividad volc\u00e1nica, pero no en otros muchos. Este tipo, como hemos mentado, no suele atesorar ni volcanes ni rocas de tal procedencia, salvo excepciones. Por el contrario, <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">las islas oce\u00e1nicas, son debidas a la ascensi\u00f3n de materiales volc\u00e1nicos<\/span><\/b> en las <a href=\"http:\/\/historia.mforos.com\/720867\/6213549-dorsales-mesooceanicas\">dorsales mesooce\u00e1nicas<\/a> o en los denominados<a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Punto_caliente_%28geolog%C3%AD%C2%ADa%29\"> puntos calientes intraplaca<\/a> de la cortaza oce\u00e1nica. <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>Las primeras emergen bajo los oc\u00e9anos, en las regiones en donde <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">divergen o convergen las placas tect\u00f3nicas<\/span><\/b>, como ocurre en el <a href=\"http:\/\/ve.kalipedia.com\/ciencias-tierra-universo\/tema\/distribucion-actividad-volcanica-sismica.html?x1=20070417klpcnatun_27.Kes&amp;x=20070417klpcnatun_28.Kes\">cintur\u00f3n de fuego<\/a>. Se trata de las islas que suelen padecer <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">m\u00e1s riesgos frente a los terremotos, tsunamis o maremotos, por cuanto aparecen en las regiones de mayor actividad s\u00edsmica, especialmente<\/span><\/b> cuando se localizan en <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">las zonas de subducci\u00f3n de<\/span><\/b> la litosfera oce\u00e1nica bajo la continental.<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> En las segundas, tambi\u00e9n de origen volc\u00e1nico<\/span><\/b>, hacen acto de presencia <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">dentro de una placa, oce\u00e1nica o continental<\/span><\/b>, debido a <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">plumas del manto terrestre<\/span><\/b> que erupcionan all\u00ed. El archipi\u00e9lago Canario y el de Hawai ser\u00edan dos ejemplos ilustrativos.<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>Finalmente, l<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">as mixtas, son sistemas insulares complejos que poseen islas del tipo (i) y (ii) simult\u00e1neamente<\/span><\/b>. Las miles de islas que pueblan el Mar Egeo (en sentido amplio) formar\u00edan parte de este \u00faltimo tipo. As\u00ed nos hable de sistemas insulares: (i) en la<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> zona divergente<\/span><\/b> (en donde las placas se separan), (ii) <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">convergentes<\/span><\/b> (en donde colisionan) (iii) <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">transversales <\/span><\/b>a las fronteras entre placas tect\u00f3nicas y (iv) <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">islas aisladas <\/span><\/b>(valga la rebuznancia), una vez m\u00e1s. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;;\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;;\">En este sentido cabe se\u00f1alar que los<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> tipos de cadenas lineales surgen principalmente<\/span><\/b> en las \u00e1reas con<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> plumas intraplaca relacionadas con las dorsales mesooce\u00e1nicas que generan litosfera a mayor velocidad<\/span><\/b> (p. ej. Oc\u00e9ano Pac\u00edfico), <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">mientras que el tipo en grupo lo hacen en las de menor velocidad<\/span><\/b> (p. ej. Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico).<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"> Las primeras generan cadenas de islas muy numerosas, pero m\u00e1s ef\u00edmeras<\/span><\/b>, hundi\u00e9ndose r\u00e1pidamente por el desplome de los edificios volc\u00e1nicos. Este es el caso del archipi\u00e9lago de Hawai. Por el contrario, <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">los \u201cgrupos de islas\u201d se engendran a menos velocidad, dan lugar a archipi\u00e9lagos memos ricos en unidades insulares, pero que perduran durante m\u00e1s tiempo<\/span><\/b> sobre el nivel de las aguas marinas.
