SoilGrids Fuente: ISRIC<\/span><\/p>\n Cuando en la excursi\u00f3n de un congreso internacional viaj\u00e9 con el compadre Carlos Cruz (INEGI) de norte a sur de M\u00e9xico, observaba con sana envidia como con su port\u00e1til nos iba proporcionando informaci\u00f3n edafol\u00f3gica (tipos de suelos, variables relacionadas con la fertilidad, n\u00famero de muestras recogidas en cada lugar, incluso datos sobre clima y litolog\u00eda de los territorios que recorr\u00edamos, etc., etc.) seg\u00fan pas\u00e1bamos de unos paisajes a otros. \u00a1Qu\u00e9 lejos de la lamentable informaci\u00f3n de suelos que disponemos en Espa\u00f1a!, aunque var\u00ede de una Comunidad Aut\u00f3noma a otra. Hoy os proporcionamos la noticia que nos enviaron hace meses\u00a0desde el ISRIC (Holanda) en la cual se anunciaba que <\/span>la informaci\u00f3n sobre los suelos del mundo a la que puede accederse a trav\u00e9s de una aplicaci\u00f3n para esos ingenios tontos a los que se denomina smart<\/strong><\/span> (smartphone\/Tablet). No dudo de que se trate de <\/span>un producto interesante para viajeros y turistas edafol\u00f3gicos, as\u00ed como para todos aquellos a los que les interesa<\/span> conocer \u201cgrosso modo\u201d la cobertura de suelos del mundo de un determinado momento y lugar<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. Y desde este punto de vista, <\/span>aun teniendo en cuenta las limitaciones del producto, la noticia es bienvenida<\/span>. <\/span><\/strong>Ahora bien, ya expres\u00e9 mis cr\u00edticas acerca de este megaproyecto en una serie de post, que motivaron una agria pol\u00e9mica con algunos popes que lideran tal empresa y que ostentaban un elevado poder en la IUSS. <\/span>Abajo os dejo los enlaces<\/strong><\/span> para aquellos que no los leyeran o que deseen refrescar la memoria. No entrar\u00e9 de nuevo en pol\u00e9micas. Simplemente que no se trata de un verdadero nuevo Mapa de Suelos del Mundo por las razones que en su momento defend\u00ed. <\/span>Soslayo pues comentar esta sentencia que me produce pavor<\/strong><\/span>: <\/span>The current spatial prediction framework focuses on producing soil information at coarse resolution of 1 km, therefore SoilInfo App is probably of limited use to farmers and agricultural extension services i.e. at farm scale. However, <\/span>this might change as the new versions of SoilGrids data, at more detailed resolutions and with improved predictions, are released. The main objective of the GSIF framework to soil data production is to establish a crowd-sourcing system to allow for users to contribute new field data and rate content based on usability (just like in the biggest web-based crowd-sourcing projects such as Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap, Geo-Wiki or similar<\/strong>). Empero cabe a\u00f1adir que recopilar datos de variables obtenidos en distintos laboratorios, con diferentes protocolos e instrumentaci\u00f3n, da lugar a que los productos obtenidos tangan muchos errores e imprecisiones y m\u00e1s a\u00fan cuando hay que interpolar valores, como es el caso al que nos referimos hoy. Por lo tanto, pretender que estos mapas\u00a0reflejen moderadamente bien realidad es una aseveraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s que arriesgada. Ya discutiremos sobre este asunto. Sin embargo reitero que, <\/span>como m\u00ednimo,\u00a0al poder tambi\u00e9n cotejar la informaci\u00f3n de las cartograf\u00edas cl\u00e1sicas, bajarse la aplicaci\u00f3n puede resultar de\u00a0interes para muchos de los lectores<\/strong>. The new version of SoilGrids1km now also includes predictions of the depth to bedrock, occurrence of the R (bedrock) horizon and estimate of the soil organic carbon stock in tonnes per ha. SoilGrids1km are available for download via www.soilgrids.org and\/or via the REST service <\/span>http:\/\/rest.soilgrids.org<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n SoilGrids1km layers can be browsed via the www.soilgrids.org<\/a> data portal (based on Leaflet library<\/a>).<\/p>\n SoilInfo App<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n SoilInfo is an App for mobile devices that allows anyone in the world to accessing publicly available soil data (at the moment SoilGrids1km data set) in a simple format i.e. as soil profile depth curve plots or tabular summaries. The current (beta release) version of the SoilInfo App provides access to standard soil properties such as soil organic carbon (g kg-1), soil pH (-), texture fractions (%), bulk density (kg m-3), cation-exchange capacity (cmol kg-1) of the fine earth fraction, coarse fragments (%), soil organic carbon stock (tonnes per ha), depth to bedrock (in cm), FAO World Reference Base soil groups, and USDA Soil Taxonomy suborders, directly in the field. The only requirement to use SoilInfo App is that a user needs a GPS enabled mobile device and an Android or IPhone operating system.
