G Rossiter<\/span><\/a>: \u201c<\/span><\/span><a name=\"top\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itc.nl\/%7Erossiter\/research\/rsrch_ss.html\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;; color: purple;\">A Compendium of On-Line Soil Survey Information<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: &quot;Comic Sans MS&quot;;\">\u201d comprob\u00e9 con asombro que <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">el libro<\/span><\/b> <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">de Alfred Zinck<\/span><\/b>, \u201c<span style=\"color: rgb(51, 0, 51);\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itc.nl\/library\/papers_1989\/tech\/zinck_phy.pdf\">Physiography and soils<\/a>\u201d <\/span>hab\u00eda sido colgado, para <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">su libre acceso, en Internet<\/span><\/b>. Se trata de <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">una monograf\u00eda que nos ha influenciado a muchos en nuestra manera de percibir los paisajes de suelos, su geograf\u00eda, as\u00ed como en la manera de conducir la cartograf\u00eda de los recursos ed\u00e1ficos<\/span><\/b>. La vida y andanzas de Alfredo son dignas de ser comentadas. Yo le conoc\u00ed justamente en el 1986, tras su regreso al viejo continente, despu\u00e9s de <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">trabajar muchos a\u00f1os en Suram\u00e9rica<\/span><\/b>, y especialmente en <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Venezuela<\/span><\/b>. Se trata de <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">uno de los edaf\u00f3logos que m\u00e1s escuela ha dejado en el citado continente<\/span><\/b>. Junto con \u00e9l, <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">jam\u00e1s he podido comprender como se pueden entender los suelos sin tener en cuenta la fisiograf\u00eda<\/span><\/b>. Siempre, como \u00e9l, he pensado que lo que personalmente denomino \u201c<a href=\"\/blogs\/universo2006\/02\/13\/13526.aspx\"><span style=\"color: purple;\">geoderma<\/span><\/a>\u201d (suelos + modelado terrestre + regolito) <a href=\"\/blogs\/universo2005\/11\/14\/9446.aspx\"><span style=\"color: purple;\">deber\u00eda ser la base del an\u00e1lisis espacial de los suelos<\/span><\/a> (aunque no se si Alfredo firmar\u00eda la inclusi\u00f3n del regolito). Desde hace mucho es un gran amigo (tambi\u00e9n hemos redactado varias publicaciones conjuntas) e intercambio mails con asiduidad. Como dice el amigo: <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Dick Arnold<\/span><\/b>: es \u201c<b><i><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">a terrific pedologist<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u201d. Nunca estuvo interesado en los \u201cISI papers\u201d, ya que consider\u00f3 que la mayor parte de las revistas cient\u00edficas est\u00e1n comandadas por mafias. Casi todas sus ense\u00f1anzas las ha realizado pu\u00e9s al margen de \u201clas revistas de excelencia\u201d, lo cual no le ha restado un \u00e1pice de fama internacional. <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">La monograf\u00eda que hoy os voy a recomendar<\/span><\/b> que baj\u00e9is de Internet <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">es ya todo un cl\u00e1sico <\/span><\/b>y tan solo eran los apuntes de alguno de los <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">cursos que impart\u00eda el ITC<\/span><\/b>. Sin embargo, su influencia ha sido tremenda. Desde el punto de vista del inventario de recursos ed\u00e1ficos lo considero imprescindible. <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Le insist\u00ed en numerosas ocasiones que lo publicara en una editorial de prestigio<\/span><\/b> para que tuviera mayor difusi\u00f3n. No lo hizo. <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Hoy gracias a Internet lo pod\u00e9is leer sin costo alguno<\/span><\/b> eso s\u00ed, en <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">suahili. Todav\u00eda no hab\u00eda obtenido su plaza en el ITC (lo har\u00eda meses despu\u00e9s), ni yo en el CSIC (la consegu\u00ed dos meses despu\u00e9s). Regresaba de reciclarse voluntariamente en EE.UU., tras una estancia de decenios en Iberoam\u00e9rica. <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>De hecho, es su casa se habla usualmente el espa\u00f1ol, siendo su esposa venezolana, pa\u00eds que fue tambi\u00e9n el lugar de nacimiento de sus hijos. Su gracioso espa\u00f1ol, con acento franc\u00e9s, es conocido por una gran parte de los colegas de aquel continente. Su casa de vacaciones est\u00e1 en Almer\u00eda, a donde le gustar\u00eda pasar sus \u00faltimos a\u00f1os. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS';\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS';\">Podr\u00eda contaros <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">innumerables an\u00e9cdotas de Alfredo<\/span><\/b>. Recuerdo ahora un combate dial\u00e9ctico sobre los suelos de las denominadas <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">superficies de tipo Ra\u00f1a<\/span><\/b> en los piedemontes del <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Sistema Central<\/span><\/b> espa\u00f1ol. All\u00ed est\u00e1bamos todos los asistentes a un Simposio sobre el tema, junto a algunos colegas norteamericanos, discutiendo sobre si las \u201cRa\u00f1as\u201d atesoraban Plintosoles o no. El combate que sostuvo con los estadounidenses no fue muy prolongado (los dej\u00f3 KO en el primer asalto). <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Sus conocimientos sobre los suelos de Latinoam\u00e9rica son formidables, casi tanto como su sagacidad y tenacidad en cualquier discusi\u00f3n que concierna a la edafolog\u00eda<\/span><\/b>. Otro d\u00eda, en m\u00ed despacho (del actual CCMA) nos enzarzamos sobre las bondades y debilidades de la USA-Soil Taxonomy. All\u00ed se encontraban tambi\u00e9n <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Cecilio Oyonarte<\/span><\/b>, de la Universidad de Almer\u00eda y <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Asunci\u00f3n Salda\u00f1a<\/span><\/b>, antigua becaria a mi cargo que realiz\u00f3 la Tesis Doctoral con Alfredo en el ITC de Holanda (actualmente en la UAH). <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>El tono de la discusi\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a tales extremos que Cecilio y Asun huyeron despavoridos pensando que pod\u00edamos terminar a bofetadas.<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>Cuando finalizamos la \u201cpelotera\u201d, yo sent\u00eda cierto disgusto y el estaba tan tranquilo. No es que hubiera ganado y yo perdido (sinceramente no lo s\u00e9), tan solo me refiero al estado de \u00e1nimo. Fuimos a cenar y le espet\u00e9 que si estaba molesto, a lo que me respondi\u00f3 que todo lo: contrario \u201cencantado\u201d. Se ri\u00f3 ante mi incredulidad y coment\u00f3 algo as\u00ed como: \u201cni reuni\u00e9ndome con todo el staff del ITC pod\u00eda haber tenido una discusi\u00f3n tan estimulante\u201d. Nacido cerca de Estrasburgo, se form\u00f3 en la escuela de Tricart<\/span>,<\/b> por lo que no es de extra\u00f1ar su <b><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">enfoque edafofisiogr\u00e1fico<\/span><\/b>. De all\u00ed pas\u00f3 a Brasil y posteriormente a Venezuela (si recuerdo bien). The material is somewhat dated but the concepts are still useful. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS';\" lang=\"EN\"><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS';\">Quiz\u00e1s sea cierto que el material se encuentre algo caduco, aunque yo no lo creo. Rossiter, seguramente se referir\u00e1 al \u201c<b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">digital soil mapping<\/span><\/b>\u201d y otras lindezas de los edafometras. Empero en los aspectos conceptuales m\u00e1s quisieran ellos llegar a alcanzar los conocimientos y talento que atesora Alfredo. <b style=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">Como el libro habla por s\u00ed solo os dejo ya con \u00e9l<\/span><\/b>.
