The aerodynamic resistance of an airplane or a car, the processes that generate the thrust of a turbojet, the extraction of energy from the winds with wind turbines ... what do they have in common? All these phenomena are a consequence of the behavior of moving air. To improve the efficiency of these processes and reduce their impact on the environment, it is necessary to have state-of-the-art techniques to understand the behavior of turbulent flows, such as those developed within the framework of the European NEXTFLOW research project. This webinar will describe the techniques used in wind tunnels and explain how they provide useful information on aerodynamic flows. In addition, experiments carried out in the UC3M wind tunnel will be illustrated, where different techniques will be taught and how their strengths can be combined to obtain a complete and reliable description.
