Curso de verano de minería de datos en bases de datos y recursos bioinformáticos, en Oeiras, Portugal

A través de Federico Morán me ha llegado la información de este curso que organiza Pedro Fernandes, y que reconozco que tendría que haber anunciado hace un par de días. El curso de verano se titula Powerful Search and Mining in Biological Databases – PSMBD08, que está amparado en el Gulbenkian Training Programme in Bioinformatics, y que se va a celebrar del 14 al 18 de Septiembre. El plazo de inscripción acaba el próximo 30 de Julio, y según el anuncio de Pedro Fernandes (visible en la versión completa de esta entrada), puede salir entre el curso y demás gastos puede salir por día por unos 120€, 80€ de los cuales son por las tasas del curso. El temario del curso está en la pagína del mismo, y parece bastante intensivo y completo , donde además podeis encontrar detalles de inscripción y la logística.

La forma de apuntarse al curso es rellenando el formulario del curso hecho en Word, y enviarlo al e-mail o fax que aparece al final de la página del curso.

I am running a course in September that is a bit sui-generis in design

While teaching the Computer Science of database  and data mining technology, it does it with Biological Databases as a permanent target. It will be a good way of stepping into Bioinformatics with a good training in the Computer Science of it. On the other hand, in the first morning, Molecular Biology concepts will be reviewed, so that we can also train people with a weaker biological background. Also on that day, the main challenges and limits observed in Bioinformatics will be discussed. The detailed timetable is online at the link above.

I have organized this because of the many requests that I received in the past. As usual I seek an internatuiobnal audience and so, I am asking for your help in spreading the news (Red Tematica? INB?).

The deadline for applications is July 30th. Please note that attending a course here is very cost effective. At daily rates, Eur 80 of fees + Eur 30-40 of subsistence. Attendees from Spain can travel very cheaply here.
