About me

Mar Solís (Madrid 1967), graduated in Fine Arts with a specialty in sculpture, from the Complutense University of Madrid.

From 1997 to the present, she has carried out various solo shows. Her most outstanding projects are “La Línea, la Curva, la Ellipse”, Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM); “The Tale of unknowing Island”, Frost Art Museum, Miami; “Encounters in Space”, Eduardo Sívori Museum of Contemporary Art, Buenos Aires; "Travel Notebooks Madrid - Damascus". Cervantes Institute of Damascus, Syria; “Los Vértices de la Vibración”, Arco’09 Contemporary Art Fair, El Mundo stand; “The Open Sky”, Barjola Museum in Gijón, Asturias; “Chosen Corners”, Pimentel Palace, Valladolid, among others.

Her work is permanently exhibited in different collections, among which the following stand out: Alberto Jiménez de Arellano Alonso Foundation, IVAM Valencian Institute of Modern Art, Madrid City Council, Madrid Community, Ministry of the Environment and the Tiflológico Museum.

She won, among other prizes, the First Prize for Art Sculpture Caja Madrid "Generation 2003". “Ojo crítico-Segundo Milenio” Award for Fine Arts Radio Nacional de España. First Prize in the Caja de Extremadura International Sculpture Contest. First Prize for Sculpture "Mariano Benlliure" Villa de Madrid.

Her public work can be found among other spaces, in Parque de los Charcones, Navalcarnero, Madrid. House of Culture of Navacerrada, Madrid. Town Hall of Ceuti, Murcia. Kasklauttanen Outdoor Sculpture Park, Lapland. Kyonggido Outdoor Sculpture Park, South Korea.
