About me

José Antonio Jiménez obtained the degrees of Technical Engineer in Electronic Equipment (UPM 1987), Telecommunications Engineer (UPV 1996), and Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering (UAH 2004). Over the past 27 years, he has carried out teaching and research activities in the Department of Telematic Engineering and Architectures at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (from October 1990 to February 1992) and in the Department of Electronics at the University of Alcalá (since February 1992 to the present).

Within his teaching activities, he has taught various subjects mainly related to instrumentation, automation, and electronic control. His teaching work is supported by the recognition of five teaching periods (five-year cycles).

In May 2004, he obtained the title of Doctor of Telecommunications Engineering with the qualification of ""Cum Laude,"" and his doctoral thesis was awarded the Extraordinary Prize for the best Ph.D. in 2005.

Regarding his research activity, two stages can be highlighted. The first stage, encompassed within his doctoral thesis, covers the years 2000 to 2006 and focuses on the generation of three-dimensional environment maps using ultrasound techniques for the navigation assistance of mobile robots. The second stage, from 2006 to the present, mainly focuses on three fields:

• Monitoring and control applied to the transportation sector (automotive and railway).
• Smart Grids: prediction algorithms and communication standards.
• Industrial Communications. Industry 4.0. Internet of Things (IoT).
• Data acquisition systems (sensing, conditioning, and acquisition).

His research work has been recognized with the awarding of four research periods, three of them being research periods and one for technology transfer.
