Mª Carmen Pérez, Senior Member IEEE, received the PhD degree in Electronics from the University of Alcalá (Spain) in 2009. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Electronics Department of the University of Alcalá. Since 2003 she has collaborated on several research projects in the areas of sequence design, low-level ultrasonic signal processing and local positioning systems. Currently, she is focusing on ambient intelligence for independent living.
