About me

Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmacy, San Pablo CEU University. Specialist in Microbiology and Parasitology (via FIR, 1992) and PhD in Pharmacy from the UCM (1998). I started working in Microbiology when I finished my Pharmacy degree and began my FIR training at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, learning about the world of human pathogenic microorganisms, the diseases they cause and their diagnosis. After this training and thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Education, I began a doctoral thesis at the SmithKline-Beecham Basic Research Center, introducing me to basic research and molecular biology, working with the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae with the aim of locating new targets for future antifungals. My incursion into university teaching began in 1997, teaching since then and until now, several subjects related to the microbial world in the degrees of Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine, Genetics, Dentistry and Optics and Optometry. At the research level, I have conducted several studies on pathogenic microorganisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis patients, Helicobacter pylori in patients with gastritis and gastroduodenal ulcers or Moraxella catharrhalis in patients with respiratory problems. I have worked with microorganisms present in natural environments, such as Legionella pneumophila and more recently with
