About me

Hello! I'm Ezequiel Borgognoni, a historian and professor at Rey Juan Carlos University. My research focuses on understanding how royal and high-ranking noblewomen influenced politics, culture, and diplomacy in Europe between the 16th and 18th centuries. My work moves between cultural history, diplomatic studies, gender studies, and art history, so I'm constantly building bridges between different disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.

I studied History at the University of Buenos Aires, earned my PhD at Torcuato Di Tella University, and have spent extended periods conducting research in various countries across Europe and Latin America. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to receive scholarships, awards, and to participate in enriching research projects where I’ve had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people.

I love writing (a lot!), and I’ve published books, articles, and essays on topics ranging from life at the Spanish court to the role of queens and the women who surrounded them. I’m currently leading a project at my university on infertile queens and unmarried princesses in Early Modern Spain. In addition to research, I truly enjoy teaching, and I’ve taught at several universities in Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile.
