About me

I am Manuela, I studied Medicine and I have been researching for more than 25 years how to develop more effective drugs, especially to protect the brain against degenerative diseases. I lead the NeuroProtection Lab at UAM, and I have been lucky enough to train many young scientists, directing more than 20 doctoral theses. I am currently Professor in Pharmacology, and I teach in the degrees of Medicine, Nursing and Nutrition, as well as in the Master in Pharmacological Research. For some years I directed the Teófilo Hernando Institute. Today I am still linked to the Teófilo Hernando Foundation and support young talent from the Royal National Academy of Medicine. I am passionate about research, but also about sharing and teaching Science.
