About me

Although I hold a PhD in Art History, my interest in Greece, and particularly the Byzantine period, led me to also study the Greek language. I currently work in the CLARIAH-ES CSIC office, which promotes Digital Humanities within the Council, Spain, and the European Union.

My research has focused on issues related to works of art in Byzantine literature and history, such as descriptions of buildings that no longer exist, or the iconoclastic period, when the representation of religious images was prohibited. The interest underlying these two fields of study is understanding the city of Constantinople during the medieval period. This has also allowed me to develop my curiosity for 3D design, through which I can capture the appearance of the vanished city and its monuments.

In my free time, I dedicate myself to modeling, reading, and learning more about 3D reconstructions. I love spending the afternoons with my colleagues from the Council and the University sharing our research topics. I'm also fortunate to be able to combine my interests with travel: whenever I have time, I escape to visit a church in a small Greek village or stroll through the streets of Istanbul in search of ancient Byzantium.
