Cristina Quílez López
About me
Cristina Quílez holds a PhD in Biomedical Science and Technology from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). Her doctoral thesis focused on the development of hair follicles using 3D bioprinting. Thanks to a Margarita Salas postdoctoral fellowship, she spent a year at Columbia University (New York), studying epidermal appendages and skin innervation. She is currently a researcher in the Department of Bioengineering at UC3M, where she develops increasingly sophisticated in vitro skin models, incorporating organ-on-chip systems for assays and testing, aiming to advance more ethical and accurate alternatives in biomedical research. Her hobbies include sewing, painting, hiking, and exploring nature with her dog. Her curiosity and creativity, both inside and outside the laboratory, drive her scientific work and her passion for discovering new ways to understand biology.
