Teresa Portolés

About me

Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the UCM.

She leads the "Cell-Biomaterial Interactions" group, which focuses on the study of the specific responses of numerous cell types (osteoblasts, preosteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteoclasts, endothelial progenitor cells, fibroblasts, macrophages, lymphocytes, lung cells, hepatic and renal cells) to different biomaterials (bioceramics, polymers, polymers, bioceramics, polymers, polymers and biomaterials), He is also involved in the development of different biomaterials (bioceramics, polymers, composites, graphene derivatives, nanoparticles) for a wide range of biomedical applications (tissue engineering, drug delivery, tumour treatment by hyperthermia, osteoporotic bone treatment, neuronal regeneration).

He combines his teaching activity in Biochemistry at UCM with his participation as Principal Investigator in scientific projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the European Commission (Horizon 2020 FET-OPEN NeuroStimSpinal Project).
