Jorge Ramiro Pérez Suárez is a Reader in Criminology Applied to Digital Spaces at UEM, as well as coordinator of the Final Dissertation in Criminology. Jorge Ramiro has a PhD in Criminology from the University of Huddersfield (2016), an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Edinburgh (2006) and a Law Degree from the Complutense University of Madrid (2003).

His areas of interest include the social impact of technology, cybercrime, the relationship between the media, culture and crime. He also advocates the use of mixed methods in social research. He is the author of books such as “Las Crónicas de Enriq” (Dykinson, 2013), “We Are Cyborgs” (Criminología y Justicia, 2017) and co-author with Antonio Silva of “Criminología de Frontera. A Critical Approach to Spanish Criminology” (Eolas, 2020). He has developed Cyborg Criminology, the Situational Action Theory-Revised for the Internet and calls for the use of Cultural Criminology and Ultra-Realism in Spain.

He is a member of the Knowledge-Research Group on Social Problems. As an example, he has participated in Research Projects for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and “Enrolla2. Percepciones de seguridad y actitudes de riesgo en "millennials" vinculadas al uso de app informáticas afectivo-sexuales” (UEM).

Personally, he is a lover of comic-books, science fiction and fantasy. In addition, he enjoys using elements of popular culture in teaching and research. Along with this, he actively participates in social networks, to disseminate knowledge and generate debate. He is contrary to dogma and uncritical thinking.
