In this interactive talk you will discover how the plasma dynamics of a space booster can be modeled and simulated by computer. In addition, you will be able to learn about the latest advances within the framework of the ERC Starting Grant ZARATHUSTRA scientific project, in which the physics of plasma rockets for space missions are investigated, with the aim of revolutionizing their design and starting the development of a new aerospace technology. whose results could also find applications in other fields, such as nuclear fusion by magnetic confinement. Researchers from the ZARATHUSTRA project (Revolutionizing advanced electrodeless plasma thrusters for space transportation) are collaborating in this activity, a five-year project financed with 1.5 million euros by the European Research Council (European Research Council) through an ERC Starting Grant from the European Union Research and Innovation Framework Program, Horizon 2020 (GA 950466).
