About me

I am a PhD in Biology, and currently I work as CSIC Research Professor at the Margarita Salas Biological Research Center and head the “Microbial Systems and Protein Engineering” group. My line of research has focused on the application of filamentous fungi and/or their enzymes in the degradation of plant biomass and their possible biotechnological applications. An important part has consisted of characterizing new enzymes and improving their activity through protein engineering for their application in biotechnological processes related to the paper industry, the degradation of pollutants, and the production of biofuels and high value-added products from agro-industrial waste. I like to disseminate our scientific activity, thus I give talks and organize workshops, collaborating in the organization of numerous events.
