Inés Calderón Medina

About me

My name is Inés Calderón Medina, and I am a historian. I work as a researcher at the Institute of History of the CSIC (Spanish National Council of Sciences). I specialize in the study of the Iberian Christian kingdoms during the Middle Ages. The subjects of my publications and lectures are noble men and women: kings, queens, concubines, knights, troubadours, etc. I analyze what they were like, how they built their power, how they related to each other, what their relationships are with the other religions present in the Iberian Peninsula, what they thought, what their artistic and spiritual concerns were, etc.

Besides the Middle Ages, I love theater and cinema because they allow me to experience other lives for a moment. I adore the sea and diving because time stands still and the body doesn't feel heavy watching the spectacle of life underwater. What I love most are traveling and good company.
