About me

Uxía Carral is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She is also the academic coordinator of the Máster de Formación Permanente en Comunicación Corporativa e Institucional (Unidad Editorial, Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo Abogados and UC3M) and an academic secretary of the Instituto Universitario de Estudios de Género (IEG-UC3M). She also teaches in the Máster Universitario en Documental y Reportaje Periodístico Transmedia (RTVE-UC3M) and in the Máster de Formación Permanente en Periodismo de Agencia UC3M-EFE. Her research focuses on disinformation, hate speech, and technological innovation applied to online communication. She is a member of the research group Analytics, Media and Public Engagement: Communication, Journalism and Technology Lab (UC3M MediaLab). She is currently involved in several European and Spanish research projects and collaborates on media literacy initiatives with the association Learn to Check. Previously, she worked as a journalist in media outlets (Cadena SER, Newtral). She is the author of several scientific articles, book chapters, and co-author of the book Comunicación Europea: ¿A quién doy like para hablar con Europa? (Dykinson, 2019). In her free time, she enjoys going to the theatre and concerts, reading, and traveling.
