Mayra Ingrid Gómez Castañeda
About me
Doctoral candidate and research fellow at the University Institute for Latin American Studies (IELAT), University of Alcalá. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational and Social Development from the National Pedagogical University of Colombia, where she graduated with distinction (laureate), and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the National University of Colombia.
She received the Marta Arango Research Award (2021) for her study on childbirth and birthing practices among the Jiw Indigenous people. Her professional experience includes work on public policies with a focus on care and ethnic perspectives. Her research interests encompass gender, intersectionality, peace, and conflict. She is a member of the Human Development, Equality and Social Inclusion Research Group at the University of Alcalá.
