One Health: how Spanish science leads the way in the fight against antibiotic resistance

To celebrate Europe Day, IES Cardenal Cisneros will host Bruno González Zorn, DVM, PhD at the Complutense University of Madrid Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance Unit at same university. He is also djunct Professor of Biotechnology at the University for Development Studies in Ghana and advisor to the WHO on antibiotic resistance and “One Health” perspective as well as part of numerous Committees on Antimicrobial Resistance at National and International Institutions.
His research interests focus on the role the ecology of antimicrobial resistance, including humans, animals, food and the environment, focusing his research on genomics from a One Health perspective. His academic and professional career is closely linked to the European Union. He obtained his DVM in 1996 studying in Spain and Germany, his European PhD in 2001 and did his Postdoctoral studies at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.
This meeting is a perfect opportunity for Bruno González Zorn to bring the relevance of action against the threat of antibiotic resistance closer to this educational centre and to aware about the actions carried out by EU in the achievement of these objectives in which tAntimicrobial Resistance Unit has participated in several occasions.
