Sonia Morante Zarcero
About me
I am an Associate Professor in the area of Analytical Chemistry at Rey Juan Carlos University, where I joined in 2002 after completing my PhD in Chemistry at the University of Alcalá. I teach in various science degree programs and am a researcher in the consolidated group on Analytical Chemistry applied to the Environment, Food, and Pharmaceuticals (GQAA-MAF).
My research focuses on the development and validation of more sustainable and environmentally friendly analytical methodologies, based on the application of new materials to improve the sample preparation stage, and the use of miniaturized and/or microextraction techniques. Our group is dedicated to improving the quality and safety control of food and water in line with the guidelines of the European Food Safety Authority, as well as exploring new strategies for the reuse of industrial and agri-food waste.
I love my work and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with the students I mentor. In my free time, I dedicate myself to spending time with and caring for my family. I love nature, going for walks, traveling when possible, and staying active all the time.
