Catalina Santiago Dorrego
About me
She holds a degree in Biology, a PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, and is a Professor of Genetics at the European University of Madrid. She teaches subjects such as Biological Processes I and II in the Physiotherapy degree program and Forensic Genetics in the Criminology degree program. She is also the principal investigator of the ESBIDA (Exercise, Health, and Applied Biomarkers) research group. Her main lines of research are: (1) the study of biological markers applied to health and exercise, and (2) Genetics and physical activity. She has a keen interest in understanding the influence of genetic factors on athletic and physical performance, both in athletes and in the healthy non-athletic population with chronic conditions, and in better understanding how to intervene in modifiable lifestyle factors to improve our health.
