The workshop aims to introduce young people to the concept of technological innovation applied to road safety, especially at crossings between road traffic and trams.

The technological development of the ‘Mini Atención Tranvía’ and ‘Ambas Vías’ light signals, implemented by Metro Ligero Oeste to prevent accidents at intersections, will be presented. The activity includes an interactive model where students will be able to experience how these signals work and simulate the passage of a tram by activating the signals.

In addition, this innovation will be connected to the awareness campaign ‘Disconnect, Look, Cross’, aimed especially at pedestrians and young people, highlighting the importance of paying attention to the urban environment when crossing the roads, both as pedestrians and drivers.

Technical and didactic objectives of the workshop:
- To understand how engineering and technology can improve public safety.
- To learn first-hand about an innovative signalling system developed by Metro Ligero Oeste.
- To develop road awareness in teenagers, both as pedestrians and future drivers.
- To reflect on the responsible use of mobile devices in urban environments.

This workshop brings together two essential approaches to address safety at urban crossings:
- Technological innovation: ‘Mini ATT’ and ‘Both Ways’ signals as an active tool to reduce collision risks between trams and vehicles.
- Public awareness: The need to eliminate distractions such as mobile phones and the use of headphones before crossing crossings or pedestrian crossings, and encouraging a responsible attitude on public roads.
- The link between both dimensions is shared road safety, where pedestrians, drivers and technological systems work together to prevent accidents.

Activity carried out in collaboration with Metro Ligero Oeste.

Don't miss the train! Students will have a guided visit to the Madrid Railway Museum.
